This project was done by PopularFront. I, along with Andrew Welters and Jay Finch, were responsible for the back-end and MySQL development. I built a custom PHP site using the awesome CodeIgniter framework. This was a data-centric application allowing 1000′s of kids to record there reading minutes throughout the summer and earn prized.
I developed a custom php templating system, Role & Permissions system, XML based Prize management & award system, as well as developing integration’s with third party REST API’s for services like class management, authentication & authorization, Google Maps, and more.
After a ‘rocky’ initial soft launch, I diagnosed and corrected a remote server configuration bug that let Summer Challenge launch & complete the summer successfully.
